The Tempest . . .

roaring through southern Italy this night did not put me off . . . in fact, as I listened through the phone line, I could hear the wonderous thunder, the rain pouring down. I'm not disturbed by a change in the weather . . . I enjoy sunshine surely, but the cleansing power of a good rain is incredible. It is refreshing, it leaves the air even cleaner and sweeter somehow . . . it is a force of nature sent to relieve the earth from its barren condition, to renew life at the most microscopic levels, to energize the atoms with some new power which strengthens all around.

I love Puglia, as you know from reading this blog. I cannot imagine a condition, a circumstance when I wouldn't feel that way. I find novels and other books everyday devoted to life in Italy and I snatch them up, as to read about my beloved second home is better than nothing, until the day I leave for my next trip. I just picked up two books yesterday, one a true story of a tragic event there in the late 60's and the other a novel set in Venice, taking place in the Murano glass manufacturing industry. I have been to Venice and recognize the places spoken about in the book. It is comforting to me to read of these things, as it brings me close to those memories I hold dear.

I am fortunate though, I am counting down the days now 'til I depart again . . . won't you come with me, following along on my journey and then letting me show you the wonderful treasures I have found for Chemarci Imports?? It won't be long now, in the meantime, find a good reference book . . . like those coffee table books you see at the bookstore, or a novel, or something else that highlights life in Italy (maybe this blog is enough?) . . . read and learn, savor and taste, discover and know . . . Italia . . . Puglia . . . che cosa bella!

Happy Saturday to you all! Cheryl
